Fast Words - Word Power

Here are the words you can write all by yourself Isaac!  You are also really good at finding words around the room to help you at writing time.  You find words on your word card and on the walls to use in your writing.

Grasshopper Tennis

This term, we have had so much fun with Big John! Big John came to teach us tennis skills. It has been tricky, but we sure have made progress over the 4 sessions. Big John has taught us to have fun with a racket and tennis ball. We have tried things like turning our racket into a "race track" to balance and move the tennis ball on it. We pretended that our racket was a trampoline and we bounced the ball on it, clapped and then tried to catch the ball again. We played all sorts of team games too. Thanks Big John!

Maths

I am learning to count to 10.

Great counting buddy!  You can count to 6 by yourself and you like 9 and 10.  We are still working to make sure that we don't forget 7 and 8.  We will get there soon!

I am learning to order numbers to 5.
I am learning to match numbers to 5.

You can order numbers to 5 Isaac.  I like how you count the numbers to know what comes next.  That is  a great strategy.

Kawenga/Responsibility

Our value focus this term has been "Kawenga/Responsibility."  We know that we can be responsible in lots of different areas.  An example of this:  to be responsible in the morning, we need to make sure we are ready for learning (put our book bag away, get brainfood etc).  A new aspect of our classroom this term has been "iTime" - we are learning to show responsibility at our independent learning time during reading.  In the morning, we make decisions about what we need to spend our time doing.  This helps us to be responsible for our learning and time management.  At my home conference, ask me how I am going with this...

Writing

You are so lucky to have such a cool dad Isaac who takes you swimming!  I can't wait to see how you are getting on with your swimming when we swim later in the year.
You always have a great idea for your writing!  You know exactly what you want to share with your audience.  Sometimes Debbie and I get it wrong, but you persevere until we know what you are telling us.
You are listening for the sounds you can hear in words and you find basic sight words on your card to help with your writing.  Great!
